A Doula is

A Doula

  •  trusts birth and believes it is a normal and natural process
  • meets with clients to learn the history of the current pregnancy and helps them to develop a birth plan
  • makes suggestions to help labour progress
  •  helps you to advocate for your wishes
  • provides comfort measures and perspective
  • may help you better understand your options
  • does not preform medical tasks but does work closely with the medical team
  • does not replace or take away from the role of the father/partner but can guide them to be more involved if they wish to be
  • will help with the initial breastfeeding
